Pedro Ramírez Vázquez, a renowned architect in Mexico City, has been credited with creating the iconic Estadio Azteca in the 1960s, a stadium that represents a modern and prosperous country that still reflects its history. The stadium was designed to provide a social experience and inspire a shared culture within the building. Ramízquez was born in 1919 and later became a prominent figure in public service, including leading the Urbanism Commission of the National Electric and Social Planning Council and leading the National Urban Urbanization Development Plan. He also helped design a system of rural “houseclassrooms” that allowed thousands of municipalities to have a school at the center of town. His architectural achievements include a continuous ring of cantilevered columns and a concrete box that allows spectators to enter and leave with fewer corporate seats.
