Colorado court throws out election denier Tina Peters' 9-year sentence for tampering with election equipment

The Colorado Court of Appeals has overturned Tina Peters' nine-year prison sentence for tampering with election equipment. The court found that the lower court violated Peters' First Amendment right to free speech related to allegations of election fraud. The three-judge panel stated that Peters' offense was not her belief in the existence of such fraud, but her deceitful actions in her attempt to gather evidence. The appeals court is asking the trial court to resent the original sentence.
