The Golden State Valkyries are the only team in the WNBA to have one preseason game, against the Seattle Storm, which provides a valuable opportunity for players to prepare for real-game conditions before the regular season begins. Coach Natalie Nakase said the game is crucial for players on the roster bubble and that it provides a one night to translate training camp into a game against an opponent. Other players on their roster are expected to perform well in position battles at backup guard and center, giving them a real chance to earn a roster spot. Free agent signee Gabby Williams is also expected to arrive in the Bay and will have her introductory press conference prior to the game.
