Bethesda Game Studios has responded to Digital Foundry's analysis of the controversial DLSS 5 AI filter, which appears to apply a blatantly AI-generated filter over games. The company stated that the lighting and effects of the filter will be adjusted by artists and players, and that it will be "totally optional" for players. This statement is seen as an attempt by Bethesda to cool down the temperature following the release of the new filter. The controversy surrounding the filter's use of these filters is particularly highlighted by its use of AI-looking character models in games such as Resident Evil Requiem, Starfield, and Hogwarts Legacy.
