Noah Schultz made his MLB debut in an 8-5 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays. Despite early jitters, Schultz managed to pitch into the fifth inning and allowed four runs (three earned) in four 1/3 innings. The left-hander, who was called up earlier in the day, allowed three hits, struck out four and walked four in the 82-pitch outing. Manager Will Venable praised Schultz's overall performance and suggested that he was aggressive in the zone and controlled his pitches better. Everson Pereira and Munetaka Murakami both scored home runs in the loss.
