Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic suggested that Griffin could receive a three-year deal in the range of $36 million to $42 million. This could result in a potential deal for Griffin being traded even as they are in the midst of extension talks. The Nationals are currently 2.5 games behind the final NL wild card spot despite their 55-56 record. If they lose their next two games in Atlanta, the front office might pull the plug on trying for the playoffs.
