The city of Jersey City has announced a new Public Safety Plan, which includes better 911 response and the reintroduction of the Motorcycle Squad. The plan also includes eliminating fixed patrolling posts and bringing in the use of specialized capabilities for the department. The changes will be overseen by acting Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose and Police Chief Robert Kearns. The new model will allow officers to be deployed based on crime data, community complaints, and real-time results.
