Iran has doubled its range of its ballistic missiles from 2,000 to 4,000 kilometers overnight, according to former IDF air defense chief Brig.-Gen. Ran Kochav. Kochav believes these launches may have exposed a clandestine program developed by the Islamic Republic. The missile likely came from a two-stage launch process, suggesting Iran has been working for years on these technologies to get satellites into space. The launch had "doubled the demonstrated capability" of Iran when it targeted the joint UK-US base at Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean. Kocha also suggested that the missile used might be a modified USSR-era R 27 ballistic missile, which could have been modified to launch from a land-based platform. He warned that every European capital now lies within Iran's reach.
