The Brazil Japan visa waiver program has been officially extended until September 29, 2026, allowing short-term travel between the two countries until late 2029. The maximum stay can be extended for up to 90 days for tourism, business meetings, conferences, and family visits. The exemption only applies to holders of ICAO-compliant ordinary biometric passports (ePassports). It does not cover employment, paid performances, or other remunerated activities. The extension was announced in August 2023 and took effect on September 30, 2023. The new expiry date of September 29th 2029 gives travelers an additional three years of visa-free access. The waiver does not change rules for expatriates, nor does for those planning to relocate, take up employment, enroll in a university, or engage in paid work.
