ICE arrests at Wilson County, Robertson County courthouses spur backlash from local immigration group

The Tennessee Immigrant & Refugee Rights Coalition (TIRRC) has condemned the arrests of individuals at Wilson County, Robertson County courthouses and elsewhere in the state. The group argues that these individuals, who have attended Middle Tennessee state courts in good faith to respond to traffic tickets, are not subject to immediate removal. The TIRRC criticizes ICE for using the legal system as a weapon to advance President Trump's mass deportation agenda. The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office stated that it does not participate in proactive immigration enforcement operations and focuses on enforcing state and local laws.
