Chile’s ‘Red Hangar’ Sweeps 41st Guadalajara Film Festival

Chilean filmmaker Juan Pablo Sallato's feature debut “Red Hangar” swept the Ibero-American strand of the 41st Guadalajara Film Festival (FICG), taking home all categories. The film, which explores the secrets behind the military coup that ousted Chile's President Salvador Allende, led by Nicolás Zárate and María Magdalena Sanizo in the Best Performance category. The Premio Mezcal section was dominated by “Querida Fátima” which won best film, director and audience awards. Elena Vilardell, technical and executive secretary of Ibermedia, received an industry tribute for her efforts to foster collaboration across Iberoan-American countries. The 22nd Co-Production Meeting showcased projects in development from Latin America and Spain, including genre drama “The Whisperer” “(La Susurradora) by Ale García and Carla Sierra, won two of the biggest awards.
