Firefighters in western Nebraska are preparing for potentially dangerous weather conditions as wildfires continue to burn. High temperatures, low humidity, and strong winds could potentially spread wildfires further. David Boyd from the Rocky Mountain Complex Incident Management Team has seen fires in Wyoming, Colorado, and South Dakota. Both Morrill and Cottonwood fires have slowed down, with Morrill now at 98% containment, while Cottonwood is at 80%. Boyd says teams will be positioned where it's safe to either work or be ready for the heat. If additional fire activity is seen, teams will patrol the edges of the edges, looking for any potential spots that could rekindle. Rep. Don Bacon of Nebraska has requested federal assistance from the governor.
