D.C. is warming up to bidets

D.C. lawmakers are considering a bill to make bidets tax-free and impose a 15% tax on "flushable" wipes to help with sewer repairs. This comes after the Potomac Interceptor collapse and officials argue that they are the cleaner (and greener) alternative. Tushy, one of the leading DTC bidet brands in the US, has grown sales at an average rate of roughly 40% per year since 2018. The U.S. bidet market is expected to grow by 30% between 2024 and 2029. Early adopters included millennials looking to reduce toilet paper and world travelers who'd had positive experiences with bidets abroad. The term "bidet" can cover everything from a simple sprayer attachment on a regular toilet to a fully integrated "smart toilet."
