The National Park Service reported nearly 4.8 million recreational visits to Yellowstone National Park in 2025, despite a 43-day partial federal government shutdown. The park saw a record 4,762,988 visits, a significant increase despite the longest government shutdown in U.S. history. Officials believe these numbers reflect the park's enduring popularity and the importance of maintaining public access to public lands during difficult times. Visitation data is a crucial tool in managing park resources, staffing, and visitor experience. The National Park System also noted that of the 433 sites in the National Park system, 406 reported visitation in 2025.
