’Cactus Pears’ (Sabar Bonda), the Marathi-language drama that won the World Cinema Dramatic grand jury prize at Sundance, is set to open in U.K. and Ireland cinemas on June 19. The film, written and directed by Rohan Parashuram Kanawade, is led by producers Neeraj Churi of Lotus Visual Productions and Kaushik Ray of Taran Tantra Telefilms. It has screened at over 85 festivals across 40 countries since its Sundance breakthrough and has already played theatrically in India, the U.S., Spain, Austria, Switzerland and Germany. To support the UK rollout, Kanawad will embark on a 10-day national Q&A tour starting June 16 at BFI Southbank in London.
