South Australia quick Brendan Doggett is unlikely to play in the Sheffield Shield final next week, while Victoria's Mitchell Perry or Sam Elliott are expected to be left out of their side. Both teams are facing tough selection calls ahead of the decider. South Australia coach Ryan Harris stated that Doggettt's chances were unlikely due to a scan and two days of bowling. Victoria's Wes Agar is expected to recover from a back issue and could play in a premier cricket semi-final in Adelaide to further his case for selection. Victoria also faces selection debate, with one of their seamers likely to make way for Fergus O'Neill.
