Weight loss drugs are changing the way the wedding dress industry is finding the perfect fit, with businesses struggling to keep up with fluctuating dress sizes. Some shops are having brides sign legal waivers to return a dress if it ends up not fitting or cannot be altered due to rapid weight loss from GLP-1s, like Ozempic or Wegovy. While dresses can be altered down two sizes to protect the integrity of the gown, a decrease in weight loss could result in a significant loss of 20 to 40 to 60 pounds. This could require an entirely different dress, which is difficult to do under a time-consuming time. The manager of Luv Bridal in Phoenix, Jenna Santarelli, recommends "corset back or A-line dresses" for those planning to lose weight as they are easier to alter.
