iyO, a hearing device startup, has accused OpenAI of misappropriating its trade secrets by giving former Apple designer and io co-founder Tang Tan access to its confidential designs, broadening the scope of the lawsuit against OpenAI. The lawsuit alleges that OpenAI used a similar name to its own, which would confuse and dilute its brand since they would operate in the same market as they did in the general market. The new filing alleges that a former iyOP engineer, Dan Sargent, downloaded confidential files from an unnamed former io engineer and handed them to io cofounder TangTan, who is also named as a defendant.
