President Donald Trump has refused to apologize for his comments criticizing Pope Leo XIV, whom he described as a "weak" leader who supports the radical left. The comments came after the Pope expressed dissatisfaction over Trump's comments about the Iran war and his threat to end a "whole civilization". At a press conference on Monday, Trump doubled down on his criticisms, stating that he has nothing to apologize because the Pope is "wrong." Bishop Robert Barron, a Roman Catholic clergyman who serves on the Religious Freedom Commission, called for an apology and suggested that serious Catholics within the Trump administration might meet with Vatican officials for a constructive dialogue.
