Gov. Mikie Sherrill's first 100 days in office have been marked by controversies with President Donald Trump, FIFA, and a struggle to control New Jersey's rising costs. Speaking with NJ.com politics reporter Brent Johnson, Sherrill positioned herself as willing to work with Washington where it benefits the state but avoided complacency. Her administration has signed legislation banning federal immigration agents from wearing masks during enforcement actions, creating a state-run portal for residents to report ICE activity, and limiting cooperation with the agency on civil matters. She also rejected the notion that publicly praising Trump could cause retaliation for New Jersey. Despite criticism of her budget decisions, she remains open to changes but said any additional spending would need to be offset.
