Mercedes' George Russell won the Chinese Grand Prix sprint race after an early duel with Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton, who started on pole but was overtaken by Hamilton on the first lap. The new F1 rules have resulted in lighter and smaller cars and shorter chassis designs. However, Williams' Carlos Sainz criticised the new energy-assisted overtakes as "artificial" and said they are not the DNA of the sport.
