Laeesch's long-term vision is to make Aurora the green building capital of Illinois and the Midwest by building energy-efficient housing and a renewable energy grid. He also emphasized the importance of energy efficiency, particularly due to global warming and rapid demand for new energy. The first step towards this goal was the opening of the Aurora CEJA Workforce Development Hub, which brings together clean energy-related job training programs from the College of DuPage and the 548 Foundation. Additionally, Laesche emphasized the need for a "Strong Towns urban design model" to reduce traffic accidents.
