The Minnesota Wild and St. Paul Mayor Kaohly Her have agreed to a framework deal to fund upgrades to the team's home arena and surrounding venues. The deal would require $200 million from the state, with the team and city each contributing $162.5 million and working together to fund the remaining $75 million. If approved, the Wild would also cover any project overrun costs and extend their lease at the arena. The arena, which hosts dozens of events throughout the year, is one of the most important economic engines in Saint Paul’s economy and is home to the Wild and Minnesota Frost. The state has been reluctant to provide funding for the project due to high tax rates in the capital city and the rest of the state.
