CCSD schools inform NIAA of independent football status this fall

Clark County School District high school football teams have informed the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (NIAA) that they will play as independents this fall and not compete for recognized state championships. This comes after another significant realignment in which the NIAA kept the controversial HRM points rating system to determine who makes the playoffs. The changes were made following a threat of league action by the Archdiocese of Las Vegas, which claimed the NAAA violated its own bylaws. The CCSD schools will still schedule games against each other, adhere to NIAa scheduling regulations, including the nine-game limitation for football.
