Plans submitted for new town's first supermarket

Lidl has submitted a planning application for its first store in Northstowe, a new development in the area that is home to nearly 5,000 people. The supermarket chain claims that 96% of its 2,600 survey respondents were in favour of the plans. The application will be considered by the South Cambridgeshire District Council and a decision is expected by 15 June. The store is expected to provide about 40 jobs.
