Rene J. Perez, a 38-year-old nurse, has been arrested for allegedly murdering his ex-coworker, Linda Campitelli, a married mother who was found dead on October 28, 2024. The couple had been having an affair since meeting while working at Wellington Regional Medical Center and began a two-year affair. Campitealli had expressed nervousness about meeting with Perez during a WhatsApp conversation, but he responded by saying it was "no big deal." The body of Campitell, who had suffered blunt force trauma to the head and torso, was found 50 feet away from the Tahoe and with severe road rash, investigators found bloodstains on the rear driver's-side door handle and a bloody Apple Watch in the center console.
