Flanigan wins West Virginia Supreme Court seat over Morrisey appointee Ewing

West Virginia Del. Bill Flanigan has won the election to fill the Supreme Court Division 2 term, succeeding former Justice Beth Walker who retired last year. Flanigan, a Wheeling attorney, had received 112,890 votes, beating governor-appointee Justice Thomas Ewing with 81,296 votes and 91% of votes counted. In a statement, Flanigan emphasized the importance of judicial independence and restoring confidence in institutions.
