Instagram is testing a new dedicated app, named "Instants," that allows users to send each other disappearing photos for 24 hours, which can only be viewed once during this window. The app is currently available on both iOS and Android and has been launched in Italy and Spain. It resembles the "Shots" instant photo sharing feature that is already included in Instagram messages. The decision to spin existing features into a dedicated app is seen as an opportunity for Instagram to further undermine its competitors.
