Head of Colorado’s Medicaid agency reached nearly $40,000 settlement with state before resigning

Kim Bimestefer, the head of the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing, reached a nearly $40,000 settlement with the state just before she announced her resignation amid a legislative no-confidence vote. The seven-page settlement waives her right to sue for any misconduct by other state officials, including age discrimination, but she cannot receive any money even if there is evidence of discrimination. The settlement was obtained through an open records request.
