Michigan Rep. Hillary Scholten's lawyer, Jesse Holcomb, fought to seal court documents about her divorce from her husband, arguing that they could harm her election chances and cause "irreparable reputational harm". However, the judge overseeing the divorce proceedings rejected the attempt to conceal the records. Schollet, a former social worker and immigration attorney in the Obama administration, currently represents Michigan's 3rd congressional district and is facing competition from two GOP hopefuls in the 2026 midterms.
