Middle Tennessee State University has announced a new masters in fine arts program, specifically for film and television production, set to launch in the fall. The program, which has received unanimous approval from the Tennessee Higher Education Commission, aims to create a workforce pipeline for these productions and is the first program of its kind at a public university in Tennessee. Students will study in advanced classes such as episodic series production, virtual filmmaking, production design and aerial cinematography. The MFA will also address the growing use of AI in the industry, considering its practical applications and ethical implications. The announcement comes during a period of high-profile productions in the Nashville area, with new TV shows "9-1-1: Nashville" and "Scarpetta" both filmed there.
