FTC Gets Green Light for BOTS Act Lawsuit Against Reseller of Taylor Swift Eras Tour Tickets & More

A federal judge has denied a motion by Key Investment Group (KIG) to dismiss the case brought by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) against KIG, who allegedly used fake Ticketmaster accounts to resell tickets for Taylor Swift's Eras Tour and other popular concerts. The FTC alleges that KIG made over $5.6 million reselling jacked-up concert tickets on the secondary market between 2022 and 2023, including over $1 million for Swift’s Eras tour and $20,000 for a single Bruce Springsteen show. Despite KIG's claim that bots were not mentioned in the law, Judge George L. Russell III ruled that the law unambiguously applies to anyone, not just bots.
