Cleveland's Playhouse Square has filed an application to create a Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area, or DORA, which would allow outdoor drinking. The application would relax open container laws and allow patrons to walk outside with boozy drinks. The proposal, which has been met with approval from the Cleveland City Council, aims to connect the properties Playhouses Square owns and its neighbors during special events. Nate Kelly, president of PlayhouseSquare Real Estate, said the expanded DORAs would help with economic development and growth and visitor attraction in a responsible way. The base area of the proposed boundaries would be very small, but could expand depending on the event.
