A high-speed collision in 2025 that killed two people in Salt Lake, Utah, has become a felony case involving 25-year-old Jason Gregorio Castanon. Prosecutors allege that Castanon was traveling at nearly 130 mph before running a red light and causing a violent collision that resulted in the deaths of Zachary Denton Stafford, 33, and Nicolas Keith Murdock, 40. The case raises serious questions about reckless driving and repeat offenses. Despite Castanon's claims that the crash was caused by brake failure, a post-crash inspection found that both the primary braking system and emergency brake were functioning within acceptable safety standards. Court records show that Castanan had prior violations involving excessive speed and driving without a valid license.
