The allegations have been denied by Perry's rep, who described them as "dangerous, reckless lies". A 2011 essay written by Rose about her sobriety appears to reflect on the same encounter. She also stated that the incident influenced her to stop drinking at the time. On April 15, Victoria Police confirmed that they are investigating a historical sexual assault that occurred in Melbourne in 2010.
