POPSIC, the Inaugural Harlem Fashion Show, kicked off HARLEM WEEK with a free outdoor fashion event at Jackie Robinson Park in Harlem. The event aims to address the lack of Black representation in mainstream fashion and offer free access to top-tier Black innovation, creativity, and style for residents from millennials to Gen Z. Founder Darryl K. Roberts, founder of Bridging Structural Holes, said the idea came to him after witnessing Black designers and creatives consistently overlooked during major fashion weeks. The fashion show featured HBCU models and designers, with attendees including Cydney Joy and Weena Jerome-Alexandre. In addition to the fashion show, POPSIC showcased local vendors, artists, creators, and entrepreneurs.
