KWCH has issued a Weather Alert Day for Wednesday, with numerous showers and storms expected to impact central and eastern Kansas from 6 to 11 p.m. Some storms are expected to be severe, producing golf-ball-sized hail, wind gusts up to 70 mph, and heavy rainfall. Meteorologist Jake Dunne warned that while the chance of an isolated tornado is small, preparation is essential. The warning system in Sedgwick County includes a multi-layered warning system, including an outdoor system, and alerts can be received through a weather radio or phone.
