OpenAI's revised Microsoft pact allows it to sell AI models across multiple clouds, potentially expanding with Amazon and expanding enterprise distribution. The change ends OpenAI's effective cloud exclusivity, widening its reach to customers using AWS, Google Cloud or others, and increases competition within the AI platform. The revised deal also removes a clause that would change the companies' business relationship once artificial general intelligence (AGI) was achieved. Microsoft no longer has to share revenue with OpenAI from serving its models via Azure, but continues to receive 20% of OpenAI revenue until 2030.
