The Dominican Republic's baseball team, led by Fernando Tatis Jr. and Fernando Cruz, has been hailed as a "way of life" for the country and its culture. The team has a collective 1.090 OPS, an entire lineup consisting of Shohei Ohtanis, who posted a 1.014 OPS last year. They have scored 51 runs, 11 more than the U.S. and Italy, and have a 1-0.98 ERA, the lowest in the tournament. The last time the team won the World Baseball Classic trophy was in 2013, becoming the first team to go undefeated in the process. Despite this, the team believes that baseball is still a way of life for the nation.
