Major Downtown Pittsburgh Restaurant Plan Gets Funding

The Richard King Mellon Foundation has donated $250,000 to the city Urban Redevelopment Authority for preliminary work on a major project that involves converting several storefronts on Smithfield Street beneath Mellon Square into a restaurant and providing outdoor dining in the park above them. The foundation has a long history of supporting the city's economic development efforts.
