Markeaton Park paddling pool set to reopen after repairs

Markeaton Park, a paddling pool at a park in Derby, is set to reopen for the summer holidays after it was forced to close for emergency repairs in June due to damage to the surface. The park has been plagued by maintenance issues in recent years, with Derby City Council stating it was nearing the end of its lifespan. Ndukwe Onuoha, city council cabinet member for streetpride, parks and leisure, said that the team is working to ensure the pool remains safe and enjoyable once open. However, opposition councillor raised concerns over the cost of the latest repair work and questioned the long-term plan for replacing the pool.
