AI infrastructure firm Nebius Group (Nebius) is expanding its European expansion with a 310-megawatt data centre in Lappeenranta, Finland, set to be one of the continent's largest with an estimated value of over $10 billion. The company plans to use enough electricity to power up to half a million Finnish households and eventually cover roughly 10% of Nebius' contracted capacity. The new data centre will be used to train AI models and run AI applications and will not be tied to any one client. Nebius has recently won contracts worth over $40 billion with U.S. software giants Microsoft and Meta. The data centre is one of Finland's largest infrastructure projects to date and supports European data sovereignty.
