China talks up oil sufficiency as Trump seeks Beijing's help on securing Hormuz energy route

China has assured itself that it has enough energy resources to handle the shortage of oil flowing through the Strait of Hormuz, as U.S. President Donald Trump seeks China's help in securing the critical waterway. The National Bureau of Statistics reported that China's domestic crude oil production rose by 1.9% year on year to 35.73 million metric tons in the January to February period. The Iran war has halted oil flows through the strait, but Iran has sent over 11 million barrels of oil to China during the period.
