Cleveland Metropolitan School District Board of Education votes to cut 410 full time jobs

The Cleveland Metropolitan School District Board of Education voted unanimously to cut 410 full time employees, largely due to the district needing to cut $150 million from its budget over the next three years. The layoffs were met with concern from parents, teachers, and students. Starting next school year, the district will have 29 fewer schools. The district's CEO, Dr. Warren Morgan, stated that the layoffs were necessary due to a deficit of unencumbered cash and the need for immediate fiscal precaution. The teachers union president, Errol Savage, expressed concern about the impact on students' education.
