Indonesia has issued summons letters to Google and Meta for failing to comply with a social media ban for under-16s, which entered into force over the weekend. Communications Minister Meutya Hafid stated that these companies violated Indonesian law. The government began enforcing the ban due to threats from online pornography, cyberbullying, and internet addiction. The summonses were part of the application of administrative sanctions and are expected to be followed by a warning letter from the companies.
