A review of state and federal records has revealed that dozens of individuals own, operate multiple companies billing Minnesota's Medicaid program, including WellHub Inc. The review also found 72 individuals or more than 10% associated with multiple health care companies. The companies collectively received over $183 million in reimbursements from 2018 through 2025, which is likely an undercount as DHS only provided data for 11 of the 14 programs designated as high-risk for program integrity issues and fraud at the time of reporting. Each of the individuals connected to WellHub are also high-ranking corporate officers in other local health care firms, including Kettle Health Inc. and Uplift Center LLC. No individuals have been charged with a crime related to these multiple companies. This trend was identified during an investigation into fraud in Minnesota's social services programs.
