President Trump's executive order on psychedelic medicine has been celebrated by Valley advocates, including Dr. Sue Sisley, who runs the lab at the Scottsdale Research Institute, the only lab cleared by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to grow psilocybin mushrooms, not synthetics. The order allows for expedited reviews of certain psychedelic drugs, including ibogaine, for various medical conditions, including post-traumatic stress disorder, addiction and depression, and invests $50 million in illegal psychedelics like magic mushrooms and ibogain. The Food & Drug Administration is set to issue national priority vouchers next week for three psychedelics, which can reduce review times from several months to a period of weeks.
