Hirokazu Kore-eda’s Protégé Unveils Polyamorous Romantic Drama ‘Between Two Lovers’

Japanese director Nanako Hirose has unveiled her second feature, "Between Two Lovers," a romantic drama about a married woman who seeks a simultaneous relationship with a female lover and proposes that all three live together. The film stars Masami Nagasawa as Uta, a picture book creator, Tasuku Emoto, Shizuka Ishibashi, and Shunji Iwai. It is set to be released in Japan on Nov. 27. The project was developed by Bunbuku and is being produced and distributed by K2 Pictures, a Tokyo-based company launched in 2023 by former Toei producer Muneyuki Kii. K2P has attracted investment from some of Japan's largest financial institutions, MUFiji Development Bank and the Japan-Taiwan co-production.
