Minooka HS District 111 approves tax abatement for Hyundai Translead project

Minooka Community High School District 111 has approved a tax abatement agreement for Hyundai Translead's $450 million economic development project in Will County. The project is expected to bring 2,500 jobs to the immediate region and is described by state and company officials as an investment valued at $450m. MCHS officials have agreed to provide Hyundai Transplay with five years of tax abation of 50% of the real estate taxes associated with an existing industrial building on a 40.19-acre site and a 15.55-acre parcel east of the existing facility. Doug Pryor, president and CEO of the Will County Center for Economic Development, expressed interest in partnerships with local schools for the project.
