Woman's Sunlight Allergy Is So Severe That She Used to Be Afraid of Lamps: 'I Don't Have a Normal Life'

Businesswoman Sonal Keay has a rare skin condition that makes her allergic to sunlight, causing her to have "very painful and severe skin" in just one minute. She first became aware of her health at age 18 and spent two years in discomfort due to sun exposure. She was diagnosed with chronic actinic dermatitis, a rare, chronic skin condition which causes even non-exposed parts of the body to develop eczematous lesions. Despite the severe discomfort, Keay developed a fear of all light, and now requires her to apply sun cream automatically.
